For the Bachelor's degree course with the option to obtain a teaching qualification for special needs education, you must choose either primary school or lower secondary school/intermediate secondary school/secondary school/comprehensive school as your specialisation. In both profile specialisations, you will study two special needs education subject areas. At present, the special needs education subject areas offered are Emotional and Social Development (mandatory) and Language. Currently, the third special needs education subject area in Hearing and Communication is being established and is expected to be offered from the winter semester 2023/24 onwards. For the primary school specialisation, in addition to the two special needs education subject areas, you will study the learning area Mathematical or Linguistic Basic Education (one of which must be chosen) combined with another teaching subject/learning area: Learning area Natural and Social Science (General Education), English, Protestant Religious Education, Catholic Religious Education or Sport. For the lower secondary school/intermediate secondary school/secondary school/comprehensive school specialisation, in addition to the two special needs education subject areas, you will also study Mathematics or German (one of which must be chosen) combined with another teaching subject: Biology, Chemistry, English, Protestant Religious Education, History, Catholic Religious Education, Physics, Economic and Politics, Technology or Sports. For both specialisations, the areas of German (for students with an immigration history - German as a second language) and Educational Sciences are mandatory.

Language assessment required if you are not yet enrolled at our university for a Bachelor's degree with a teaching qualification option: skala.uni-due.de Proof of 52 weeks of practical work must be provided by the time of the traineeship; Vocational training is recognised.
