Admission requirements

Admission requirement for admission to the course is the successful completion of a university degree in Chemistry, Technical Chemistry, Applied Chemistry or another relevant degree course with a minimum classification of Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Engineering with a total of at least 210 credit points according to the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) and an overall grade of at least 2.5 or better. Each skills course in the field of Chemistry amounting to at least 60 credit points (without taking into account practical work) is relevant. If the requirements above are not fulfilled in their entirety, admission is only granted by demonstrating the lacking knowledge through successful completion of certain examinations from Bachelor's degree courses for admission to the Master’s thesis. If more than 30 credit points are lacking, admission is not possible. Applicants who have not yet completed their relevant degree can participate in the selection procedure, provided that at the point of application they can demonstrate that: - they only require a maximum of 30 credit points to obtain their degree (i.e. at least 150 out of 180 credit points have already been achieved for 6-semester degree courses or 180 out of 210 credit points have already been achieved for 7-semester degree courses) - you have a provisional average grade of 2.5 In such cases, enrolment is on the basis that the academic degree is completed by the re-registration deadline for the second semester, otherwise this will result in exmatriculation. Proof of command of English, e.g. by the presentation of sound test results: - TOEFL paper-based (550 points) - TOEFL computer-based (213 points) - TOEFL Internet-based (80 points) - IELTS (6.5 points) - GMAT (400 points) - equivalent proof of language competence The Examination Board can recognise other proof as equivalent. At the time of application, proof of command of English is required. If prospective students do not yet have the required documentation at this time, they must register for an official test to be taken. The test result must be presented no later than by the beginning of the first full-study semester. Proof of successful completion of a German language test for admission to higher education (DSH – Level 2), for students who have obtained their higher education entrance qualification at a non-German speaking institution.
