Annotation
A woman studying mechanical engineering? Sure, of course! Sometimes it only takes a bit of a nudge to change one’s future direction. Far too often, however, we allow ourselves to be guided by other people's ideas instead of listening to ourselves. Particularly in technical fields, outdated role and occupational images still prevail, making it difficult for women in particular to study and work. Does it have to be that way? Don’t listen to what others might say! Study mechanical engineering in the women's degree course at the University Ruhr West! WHAT CAN I EXPECT? • Four semesters among women, non-judgemental working atmosphere • Multi-faceted engineering education • Project work and company visits In brief: For us, a women’s degree programme means that you study among women in the first four semesters and from the fifth semester onwards in the mixed degree programme up to your Bachelor of Science. You see, the degree is the same. What makes the women’s programme special is the path taken there or, rather, the way you get started. This is reflected in the way we learn and work together here. In a relaxed and practice-oriented environment, you can test yourself and your abilities, and raising questions is explicitly encouraged in small learning groups. You will gain practical experience, for example, through internships and exciting projects, but also through (industrial) cooperation partnerships and excursions. This means that you will develop solutions for interesting, realistic questions in small, creative teams. COURSE CONTENTS Principles of Mechanical Engineering Engineering Mathematics and Materials Science Examination Regulations, Module Handbook & Programme Curriculum The content of the programme depends on what you as a mechanical engineer have to be able to do. If you are interested in mathematical and scientific questions and have a basic understanding of technical processes, then the women’s programme in mechanical engineering is absolutely the right place for you. The women’s programme in mechanical engineering gives you all the know-how you need to go your own way as a mechanical engineer. In addition to the theoretical content, you will have a lot of opportunity to gain practical experience.
