Target group

The subject of Russian is primarily for the training of Russian teachers for the Teaching Qualification at Grammar Schools. The content of the subject is therefore the Russian language, Literature and Regional Studies as well as the didactics of teaching Russian. The course teaches language skills and structured specialised knowledge on fundamental sub-areas of Linguistics, Literary Studies and Civilisation Studies which are particularly relevant for schools. The course provides students with the language and didactic requirements for successful school lessons and also enables them to explain the modern state of the Russian language as well as pass on knowledge of the literature, culture and the history of Russia from the Kevian Rus to the present day within a lesson.

Annotation

Students are advised to commence studies in the winter semester. The University Mainz offers the Master of Education exclusively for Teaching Qualification (Grammar Schools). If the Bachelor degree certificate is not available by the application deadline, but at least 135 credit points can be demonstrated: Submit a certificate of study and examinations and the average grade achieved so far. (This certificate must be issued by the relevant higher education, original or officially authenticated copy). After enrolment, the diploma must be submitted. If the degree was obtained abroad: officially authenticated copy of a certificate of recognition (responsible: Student Service - Admission International).

Admission requirements

1. Proof of a teaching-related Bachelor's degree (Bachelor of Education) in a relevant subject. 2. A requirement for the Master of Education course is that students have sufficient active and passive command of English to enable them to read English specialist literature and to participate in lectures conducted in English. 3. Applicants must still have the examination entitlement for the subject of Russian in the Master of Education course.
