Target group
The Master's degree course in Musical Theory seeks to familiarise students with both the historical and systematic aspects of musical theory. Most course graduates subsequently pursue music teaching or academic careers.
Annotation
Applications are submitted via the student registrars office of the University of Mainz \; Registration for the aptitude test at the University of Music. If the Bachelor degree certificate is not available by the application deadline, but at least 135 credit points can be demonstrated: Submit a certificate of study and examinations and the average grade achieved so far. (This certificate must be issued by the relevant higher education, original or officially authenticated copy). After enrolment, the diploma must be submitted. If the degree was obtained abroad: officially authenticated copy of a certificate of recognition (responsible: Student Service - Admission International).
Admission requirements
Bachelor's degree in Music or Musicology or equivalent degree from a university in Germany or abroad. Pass the aptitude test (see ). knowledge of the English Language For applicants who have not obtained their university entrance qualification at a German-speaking institution or a degree in a German-language course, proof of sufficient German language skills (comparable to level DSH-2) must be provided. Evidence is provided by submitting appropriate test certificates. If this proof is not provided at the latest when the course begins, the admission expires.
