Annotation

The University Mainz offers the Master of Education exclusively for Teaching Qualification (Grammar Schools). If the Bachelor degree certificate is not available by the application deadline, but at least 135 credit points can be demonstrated: Submit a certificate of study and examinations and the average grade achieved so far. (This certificate must be issued by the relevant higher education institution, original or officially authenticated copy). After enrolment, the diploma must be submitted. If the degree was obtained abroad: officially authenticated copy of a certificate of recognition (responsible: Student Service - Admission International).

Admission requirements

Proof of a teaching-related Bachelor’s degree (Bachelor of Education) in a relevant subject. A requirement for the Master of Education course is that students have sufficient active and passive command of English to enable them to read English specialist literature and to participate in lectures conducted in English. In addition, it is required that students in the subject of German either have sufficient active and passive command of another modern language to enable them to read specialist literature in the language in question or that they have sufficient command of Latin (proof not required). Applicants must still have the examination entitlement for the subject of German in the Master of Education course.

    Those who have obtained their higher education entrance qualification abroad should have their certificates recognised early on via the Student Services (www.uni-mainz.de/incoming). The request for recognition should be submitted six to eight weeks before the respective application deadline, as the certificate of recognition must be enclosed with the application.
