Target group

The focus of the Adult Education/Continuing Education programme is on the research-based examination of processes, forms and structures of adult lifelong learning. The Master’s degree in Adult Education/Continuing Education leads to a professional qualification at a high academic level. This paves the way for challenging and sophisticated, academically sound work in all areas of the postgraduate education and social system. The concept of the course is aimed at the ability to perform research-based development work that contributes to the professional quality of education and lifelong learning. Such an approach serves future specialists to assess and further develop the empirical, theoretical and pragmatic foundations of their professional activities, on the basis of relevant academic discourses and procedures. The overall orientation of the MA course in Adult Education/Continuing Education is highly practical and provides the skills necessary for an independent, in-depth academic examination of: • Issues in education, • issues of learning and teaching of adults, • issues in counselling adults, • issues in the planning and organisation of learning and development processes, and • issues regarding the evaluation of processes, facilities and systems.
