Students are recruited as Rechtspflegeanwärter (judicial officer on revocation) in the respective judicial service of the states of Berlin, Brandenburg or Saxony-Anhalt and receive remuneration under civil service regulations. The training to become a judicial officer takes place in a three-year dual study. The theoretical basics are taught jointly for all states at the Berlin University of Economics and Law (Campus Lichtenberg). These alternate with several months of practice, which take place at the local and regional courts and the public prosecutor's offices of the respective hiring authority. After successful completion of the preparatory service, the career examination will be taken. In addition, a diploma thesis can be prepared to obtain the academic degree of "Diplom-Rechtspfleger (FH)" or "Diplom-Rechtspflegerin (FH)".
