Annotation

There are different emphases in the Interprofessional Health Care degree course. On the one hand, competencies in therapy and nursing science are taught. The practical application of clinical reasoning and evidence-based practice plays a central role in this. In addition, social and health science content is taught, taking into account the interprofessional perspective. In addition, the subject of practice management and the fundamentals of business administration are part of the curriculum. The aforementioned content culminates in the content focus of the degree course, support for lifestyle changes and behaviour modification. Different approaches are discussed to enable patients to act and to accompany processes of change in addition to treatment. For this purpose, profound knowledge in the field of communication, motivational interviewing, patient education, change management and health coaching is imparted. The Interprofessional Preventative Health Care degree course is offered as an accreditation model. It builds on the knowledge gained from completed education and training in the health professions and specialises and expands the knowledge and skills developed there. Part of the previous education and training may be recognized as credit towards the degree. The special course planning makes it possible to combine vocational training and education at a vocational school with a Bachelor's degree. The duration of degree course is reduced to 3 semesters, the 4th to the 6th semester. The degree course concludes with a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree with 210 CP (ECTS). As admission requirements for enrolment, completed vocational training and education in the following fields is possible: Physiotherapy Occupational Therapy Healthcare and Nursing Geriatric Nursing Speech Therapy The degree course is shortened to 1.5 years through the recognition of achievements from vocational training and education. Three theoretical and three practical phases are carried out alternately, so that the study time is very varied. The degree course always starts in the winter semester with the theory phase. After only 3 semesters, students graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree.

Admission requirements

A general or subject-restricted higher education entrance qualification appropriate for the selected course, as well as a study and training agreement with a company or social institution. If proof of aptitude is additionally provided, applicants with an entrance qualification for universities of applied sciences, or with a professional qualification compliant to the regulations governing access to higher education (BerufsHZVO), may also be admitted. Special feature: In contrast to other courses of study at DHBW, the Inter-Professional Healthcare course is a training-integrated course in accordance with model 1+3: The course of study is aimed at three target groups: - Trainees in Healthcare and Nursing who meet the admission requirements for the degree course - Trainees in Ergotherapy who meet the admission requirements for the degree course - Trainees in Physical Therapy who meet the admission requirements for the degree course. The course is offered in addition to training (in the first year of study, students study exclusively in the partner institution, e.g. clinic. From the second academic year onwards, students study and train in parallel. The standard period of study is 4 years in total). The DHBW cooperates with corresponding facilities. The training-integrated course includes a professional qualification obtained outside DHBW and a degree obtained at DHBW. These qualifications are inextricably linked to one another and each results in a different examination qualification: Vocational qualification with a Staatsexamen at a vocational school for health counselling and a Bachelor of Arts qualification at DHBW.
