Annotation
The Master's degree course offers a choice between two subject orientations: In addition to the theological focus, a firm specialisation is offered in community education and pastoral work, which can also address the pressing issues of combining theory and practice in the everyday life of believers. The theological perspective offers a scientific specialisation in the traditional core subjects Dogmatics, Philosophy, Sufism, Islamic Law as well as Koran and Hadith Studies. Both directions also enable students to acquire specific religious sociological skills and are supplemented by an extensive compulsory elective component from relevant related disciplines. In addition to in-depth knowledge in the classical theological core subjects and practical issues of Applied Theology, the study programme places great value on inter-religious skills and inter-disciplinarity. The Master’s degree opens up the opportunity to do a doctorate and, with the appropriate course planning/fulfilment of the relevant requirements, admission to any possible doctorate. The degree qualified for the fields of activity in the theological, religious and community pedagogical as well as pastoral care, for example in mosque communities as imams as well as in other social and religious institutions. Other professional areas are in social and creative fields in politics, science and economics, in government institutions as well as in non-governmental organisations. In addition, the degree course enables students to collaborate in projects on strengthening inter-cultural and inter-religious dialogue, in art and culture projects, to work in the area of media and public relations and for professions in the fields of culture, education and society.
