Annotation

As in the Bachelor's degree course, the three-semester Master's degree programme in Civil Engineering also focuses on courses from seven specialisations: Construction Management, Structural Engineering, Traffic, Water, Numerical Methods of Structural Civil Engineering, Traffic Route Construction and Geotechnics as well as Materials. In the numerous specialised modules of the specialisation fields as well as in an internship, Master's students receive extensive training for application in theory and practice. However, the content for Master's students is more research-oriented than application-oriented. Due to the science-oriented and interdisciplinary approach, Master's students have the opportunity to look at topics that belong to the canon of the Bachelor's degree course in a different way. This results in innovative and demanding solutions for practice that go beyond the usual standards. Students can decide for themselves which area they want to specialise in. There is a variety of topics to choose from, which offers space for an individual study profile. Graduates have excellent professional prospects – whether in the case of large construction companies, in specialised construction offices or in the public service, whether in the execution or economic operation of construction projects - and are also capable of independent scientific research: The Master's degree programme entitles you to commence studies towards a doctorate. Part-time study is quite possible due to the course of study in this degree course. Upon request, you can register for part-time studies in accordance with Section 19 (2) Hesse Higher Education Act (HessHG). The specific provisions for part-time studies will then apply. Counselling by the subject-specific student advice service is recommended.
