Annotation
The study of the subject French in the degree programme Teacher qualification at the level of grammar schools is oriented towards the requirements of the practice of teaching French at grammar schools. The programme will impart the necessary linguistic, subject-specific and didactic basics necessary for the practice of the teaching profession at grammar schools and allow for first experiences in school teaching practice under academic guidance. Students are to be qualified on the basis of the acquired competences, i.e., knowledge, qualifications and attitudes, for academic work and socially responsible practice of the teaching profession. Some of the main objectives of a university education in subject area French include: - a thorough command of French, both written and spoken\; - familiarity with questions, methods and concepts of linguistics and literary studies\; - the ability to verify and apply these methods and concepts\; - familiarity with regional and cultural issues, including geographical, historical, social, legal, economic and political foundations of the respective country\; - the ability to independently tackle didactical problems and to show possible solutions. The subject French takes into account the four pillars - Language Studies (Linguistics), - Literary Studies, - Language practice and regional studies and - Teaching Methodology.
