New members elected to the Executive Committee and Board of Trustees

DAAD General Assembly

The General Assembly of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) today elected new student members to the Executive Committee and the Board of Trustees. In addition, a by-election was held for a member of the Executive Committee from among the member universities.

The DAAD members in Bonn elected four new student executive committee members and three student board of trustees members by a large majority. 
Elected to the executive committee from among the student bodies: 

  • Kumar Ashish, Carl von Ossietzky Universität Oldenburg
  • Aiym Jandybayeva, Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn
  • Julian Windeck, Friedrich-Alexander Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg
  • Diana Zhunussova, Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg

The regular term of office of the student members of the executive committee is two years and begins on 1 January 2026.

Elected to the DAAD board of trustees from among the student bodies:

  • Amro Bay, Technische Universität Braunschweig
  • Daniel Janke, Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg
  • Maren Weissig, Technische Universität Dresden

The board of trustees advises the executive committee and proposes candidates for the office of president, vice-presidency and the executive committee. It consists of 28 members, including five elected representatives, three of whom come from the student bodies. The term of office of the student board of trustees members also begins on 1 January 2026 and lasts two years.

There was also a by-election for a seat on the DAAD executive committee from among the member universities. The following were elected to the DAAD Board:

  • Prof. Dr. Sylvia Heuchemer, Präsidentin, TH Köln

Die Amtszeit von Sylvia Heuchemer beginnt am heutigen Tage und läuft bis zum 31. Dezember 2027. Sie ist an die Amtsperiode der bereits im Jahr 2023 gewählten Vorstandsmitglieder angepasst. Professorin Heuchemer folgt auf Prof. Dr. Angela Ittel, die ihr Amt im DAAD-Vorstand nach ihrer Wahl zur Vizepräsidentin der Hochschulrektorenkonferenz (HRK) niedergelegt hat

The DAAD General Assembly is made up of representatives from the 252 member universities and 104 student bodies and takes place annually in Bonn.
