A redesign of research marketing relating to Germany
Research in Germany
The ‘Research in Germany – Land of Ideas’ initiative has received a makeover and is available online as of today. This involved the website that markets Germany as a research location being extensively reworked to persuade more international researchers to benefit from the diverse opportunities offered by the German research sector. The German Academic Exchange Service (Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst – DAAD) is jointly responsible with the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG, German Research Foundation), the Fraunhofer Society and DLR Project Management Agency for implementing this initiative set up and financed by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF).
‘Germany is an attractive location for talented international researchers and we should always publicise this on a global basis. The Research in Germany initiative provides an excellent platform to do so. I’m therefore delighted that the main website is now resplendent in a new design. It will in future convince even more researchers from around the world to come to Germany to conduct their research’, said DAAD President Professor Dr Joybrato Mukherjee. The redesign places even greater emphasis than before on the connection between innovation, international networking and performance in the German research landscape, and values like freedom, diversity and social and ecological responsibility.
Awakening interest in Germany as a research location
Its website www.research-in-germany.org is the core element of the Research in Germany initiative. The information needs of international researchers were the focal point of the makeover: the new website quickly provides them with information on financing options for their research stay and on key institutions in Germany relating to their research specialisation. The website’s target groups extend from doctoral candidates to postdoctoral researchers through to experienced researchers. These various target groups can use the new website to obtain customised information on the wide variety of funding and career opportunities in Germany, on underlying conditions in research and teaching, and on support options at German higher education and research institutions.
‘Research in Germany’ – a global presence
The Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) set up Research in Germany in 2006. The initiative seeks to make international researchers, scientists and multipliers aware of the qualities that Germany offers as a research location and of the individually suitable access options. Research in Germany therefore addresses globally relevant research markets to present Germany as an ideal research and science location, such as at trade conferences and career fairs, delegation trips, in forums and workshops, idea competitions, informative publications, on various social media channels and via its main website. The Research in Germany website was visited around four million times in 2021 by students and researchers from around the world.
