DAAD funds 29 university cooperation programmes between Germany and Ukraine
Funding decision
The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) is strengthening academic cooperation between German and Ukrainian universities with its "German-Ukrainian University Network" programme. A total of 29 cooperation projects at German universities have now been selected for four years of funding. The projects are funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), with 24 million euros available until 2029.
The "German-Ukrainian University Network" aims to support the reconstruction of the Ukrainian higher education sector and promote its integration into the European Higher Education Area. 47 Ukrainian universities are involved in the co-operation projects of the selected German universities. Funding for the projects will start in July of this year.
The programme consists of two parts: In the Study and Teaching programme line, the DAAD promotes binational cooperation to develop joint degree programmes, including double degrees, as well as joint teaching and learning modules. A particular focus is on the exchange of teaching staff and students, which often takes place virtually in times of war. Around 800,000 euros per project are available for this programme line
In the Higher Education Administration and Internationalisation programme line, the DAAD supports further training measures for Ukrainian university staff in order to promote the internationalisation and integration of their universities into the European Higher Education Area. Around 400,000 euros per project are available for this programme line.
