Enabling international students to increase their employability without increased pressure and additional time expenditure and to integrate newly acquired future skills into their studies in a competence-oriented manner as credited academic achievements: this is the unique selling point of "MarWay – Paths to Employment for International Students", the programme for the qualification and promotion of international students as skilled workers of tomorrow at Philipps-Universität Marburg. The Marburg Path to Employment focuses on securing academic success and professional biography profile building marked by self-initiative by means of individual career strategy throughout the entire student journey.

The journey is therefore the goal: teaching and learning offerings anchored in the curriculum and project seminars with a focus on study orientation, specialist subject and career mentoring, networking with pharmaceutical and biotech companies in the region, service learning and volunteering are firmly implemented in the course of study through six elective modules. At the same time, strategically sustainable alliances and networks between non-university (practice) partners from business, politics, society and education as well as an International Student Service Hub are being established and expanded. MarWay emphasises the special potential of foreign students and is a win-win project for everyone: for international students, for the Philipps-Universität and for Germany as a business location.

Study Support

• Conception, implementation and consolidation of new curriculum-anchored modules on orientation in studies, service learning and social commitment
• Wide range of workshops to promote individual soft and study skills, e.g. on the topics of time management, exam anxiety, communication and presentation techniques
• Training on academic writing in German and English
• Subject-specific courses for using scientific texts and for working techniques relevant to the course of study
• Establishment and expansion of networks and cooperations with institutions of business, politics, education and society in the region to create joint offers to promote the talents of today and skilled workers of tomorrow

Preparation for the Labour Market

• Conception, implementation and consolidation of new curriculum-anchored modules for career orientation and labour market exploration
• Wide range of workshops and training courses for individual career preparation, e.g. on the topics of job search, application preparation, job interview and salary negotiation
• Establishment and expansion of networks and cooperations with companies in the region to create joint structures to promote the skilled workers of tomorrow and the retention of skilled workers in the region
• Regular career fairs to network with companies from the region
• Company visits, presentations and career talks with international alumni

• Establishment of comprehensive combined counselling services by the International Office and the Career Service of the Central Student Advisory Service for career planning and career orientation in Germany with regard to issues of immigration law and international aspects
