Academic Horizons - Attracting Global Minds
The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) is funding the programme ‘Academic Horizons – Attracting Global Minds’ with funds from the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR) as part of the Global Minds Initiative Germany .
The programme aims to support German universities in attracting the best international talent for master's or doctoral studies in key technologies and strategic research fields of the High-Tech Agenda Germany. The programme strengthens universities' ability to target outstanding international talent, successfully inspire them to study or pursue a doctorate, and integrate them into science and professional life in the long term. In addition to strategic recruitment, the programme offers a comprehensive support process: from personal and administrative assistance before and during studies or doctoral programmes to individual career development. This not only attracts excellent students and doctoral candidates to Germany, but also strengthens the recruitment, onboarding and support skills of universities in the long term. The aim is to permanently retain top international talent in Germany as a centre of science and innovation – and thus decisively secure the future viability of German universities.
