Programme Description

Candidates are higher-education graduates with a degree in a subject related to aeronautics and space travel who wish to obtain a doctoral degree at the Technical University Munich (TMU) or the University of the German Armed Forces (UniBw). The scholarship programme supports research themes proposed by the recognised Munich Aerospace Research Groups. Within each group, at least two of the four Munich Aerospace partners co-operate on specified key topics giving scholars the opportunity to conduct research as part of a research group. In addition, the scholarship programme enables candidates to enrol at the Munich Aerospace Graduate School. The scholarship is worth EUR 1,575 each month and will be granted for at least 12 months and at most three years.

Target Group

graduates with a degree in a subject related to aeronautics and space travel wishing to obtain a doctoral degree at the Technical University Munich (TUM) or the University of the German Armed Forces (UniBw) and do research in one of the key projects currently in progress:

  • autonomous flights
  • safety in orbit
  • geodetic earth observation
  • advanced aerospace communications and navigation
  • aviation management
  • Green Aerospace
  • Public Security
  • freely chosen topics in connection with industrial cooperation

Academic Requirements

admission to a doctoral programme at the Technical University Munich or the University of the German Armed Forces in a subject related to aeronautics and space travel

Number of Scholarships

about five scholarships per year

Duration

12 months at least, up to three years at most

Scholarship Value

  • EUR 1,575 per month
  • Costs occurring in the context of the doctoral project will be adequately subsidized, can be funded up to EUR 6,100 annualy.
  • enrolment at the Munich Aerospace Graduate School

Application Requirements

  • higher-education degree with at least good grades or equivalent in a subject related to aeronautics or space travel
  • fulfilment of admission criteria to a doctoral programme at the Technical University Munich or the University of the German Armed Forces
  • letter confirming supervision by a competent higher-education teacher in accordance with the guidelines for doctoral programmes
  • participation in a recognized Munich Aerospace Research Group
  • enrolment at the Munich Aerospace Graduate School
