The scholarship addresses highly qualified undergraduates, graduates and doctoral candidates either at institutions of higher education in the Land of Baden-Wuerttemberg or at their international partner institutions. Every year 1,200 young people from all over the world are given the opportunity to study abroad. Scholarships are equally distributed between applicants from the Land of Baden-Wuerttemberg and candidates from abroad. The funding period ranges between three and 11 months. Entire degree courses (Bachelor's or Master's) or PhD programmes are, however, not eligible for funding. The sponsorship amount is calculated individually and varies, depending also on the term (semester) and the scholar's academic progress. The minimum scholarship is of EUR 500, the maximum of EUR 1,400. Upon their return scholars receive non-material assistance and are part of a broad international network connecting people from differing disciplines and cultures.
The programme is intended for highly qualified undergraduates, graduates and doctoral candidates from all disciplines at institutions of higher education in Baden-Wuerttemberg and their partner institutions abroad.
