Description The International Max Planck Research School for Condensed Matter Science (IMPRS-CMS) is a joint project of the Max Planck Institute for Solid State Research and the University of Stuttgart. The Stuttgart Campus hosts an extraordinary array of research groups with top-notch facilities and a wide spectrum of expertise in fundamental condensed matter science. Close interaction and cooperation between physicists and chemists, experimentalists and theorists at all levels is an essential element of research in the IMPRS-CMS. Our research interests cover a broad spectrum from fundamental to performance-oriented solid state chemistry, physics and materials science. The synthesis of novel compounds, the experimental characterization of physical and chemical properties, and their theoretical description are closely linked within the IMPRS-CMS. We offer an English-language curriculum comprising lecture courses, a training program in complementary skills, and summer and winter schools with leading international partner institutions.

Applications are welcome for the autumn term 2019. The Max Planck Society seeks to increase the number of female researchers in fields where they are underrepresented. For more information about our research topics please consult our web pages.

Financial Support:
All accepted IMPRS-CMS fellows will obtain a working contract which is sufficient to cover living expenses in the Stuttgart area.
