|Description||At TU Dresden, Faculty of Environmental Sciences, Department of Geosciences, the Institute of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing offers, subject to resources being available, at the Junior Professorship in Environmental Remote Sensing a position as

The position will start at the earliest possible date and is limited for 3 years. The period of employment is governed by the Fixed Term Research Contracts Act (Wissenschaftszeitvertrags¬gesetz - WissZeitVG). The position aims at obtaining further academic qualification (e.g. PhD). Balancing family and career is an important issue. The position is basically suitable for candidates seeking part-time employment.
Tasks: Within the newly established Junior Professorship in Environmental Remote Sensing, you will prepare and held exercises and seminars for Master students (mostly in English) and you will co-supervise study projects and Master theses. Additionally, you will be conducting research on estimating and analyzing vegetation properties and ecosystem processes from optical and microwave satellite observations and their application for climate and environmental modelling. The publication and presentation of results in international journals and at conferences will be a part of your work. You will support the Junior Professorship to develop a data and software infrastructure for the processing, organization and analysis of remote sensing and model data.
• very good university degree (Master or equivalent) in geodesy, geography, geoinformatics, geoecology or a related area with specialization in remote sensing
• practical experiences in analyzing optical (e.g. Sentinel-2/-3 or Landsat) or microwave (e.g. Sentinel-1) satellite data
• good knowledge in a data analysis language (e.g. R, Python or Matlab)
• willingness to learn other programming languages (e.g. C), HPC systems and Git
• basic knowledge in statistics, time series analysis, image analysis and machine learning
• interest in climate and environmental modelling and model-data integration
• fluent in English (oral and written), basic knowledge or willingness to learn German is helpful.
