• Standard application procedure

  Application requirements
  Students studying at the following universities are eligible for accommodation:
  - Akademie für Darstellende Kunst in Baden-Württemberg
  - Duale Hochschule Baden-Württemberg Stuttgart
  - Evangelische Fachhochschule Ludwigsburg
  - Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg Ludwigsburg
  - Hochschule der Medien Stuttgart
  - Hochschule Esslingen
  - Hochschule für öffentliche Verwaltung und Finanzen
  Ludwigsburg
  - Hochschule für Technik Stuttgart
  - Pädagogische Hochschule Ludwigsburg
  - Staatliche Akademie der Bildenden Künste Stuttgart
  - Staatliche Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst
  Stuttgart
  - Universität Stuttgart
  - Media Akademie Stuttgart
  - Hochschule für Kommunikation und Gestaltung
  
  People who do not qualify:
  - Students who already have university degrees
  - Students of age 30 or over at the beginning of their studies, unless eligible for BAföG funding
  - Students who have reached or exceeded the standard period of study

  Application deadline
  If you qualify to apply for accommodation in one of the halls of residence, you should look for a suitable place and then apply to the Studierendenwerk Stuttgart as early as possible.

• DAAD scholarship holders

  The International Office can provide accommodation in one of the student dormitories of the Studierendenwerk Stuttgart provided you have been awarded one of the following scholarships:
  - Research grant for doctoral candidates and young academics and scientists
  - Research grant for doctoral candidates within the "Sandwich Model"
  - Study scholarship for graduates of all disciplines
  
  Please send an e-mail to the International Office (incoming.daad@ia.uni-stuttgart.de) attaching your DAAD letter of award. After that, you will receive further instructions along with the DAAD housing application. Fill in the application and return it to the International Office before the deadline.
  
  Deadlines:
  June 15 for the moving-in dates of September and October
  December 15 for the moving-in dates of March and April
  
  Please be aware that the International Office does not influence dormitory housing assignments. The Studierendenwerk has sole responsibility for assigning dormitory rooms and does so without regard to individual preferences.

• Double Master's students

  The International Office can provide accommodation in one of the student dormitories of the Studierendenwerk Stuttgart for students in Double Master’s programmes from the following partner universities:
  -Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT), Australia
  -Universidade Federal do Paraná, Brazil
  -Queen’s University, Canada
  -Tongji University, China
  -Université de Rennes, France
  -Université de Strasbourg, France
  -Toyohashi University of Technology, Japan
  -Universiti Teknologi MARA, Malaysia
  -Technische Universiteit Eindhoven, Netherlands
  -Universidad Politécnica de Cartagena, Spain
  -Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden
  -Georgia Institute of Technology, USA
  
  Once you have been accepted into the program of studies by the University of Stuttgart, you may apply for a dormitory room by completing the online application on the website of the Studierendenwerk Stuttgart before the requisite deadline. Be sure to select your correct Double Master’s program in the section “Data about the course of study.”
  
  Deadline:
  June 15 for the moving-in dates of September and October. Please consider the deadline. Late applications will not be accepted.
  
  Please be aware that the International Office does not influence dormitory housing assignments. The Studierendenwerk has sole responsibility for assigning dormitory rooms and does so without regard to individual preferences. If no accommodation can be provided for you through the quota of the International Office, it will be up to you to search for an apartment or a room on your own.

• Exchange students from overseas and Erasmus+ students from Egypt, Bosnia Herzegovina and Ukraine

  For exchange students from overseas and Erasmus+ students from Egypt, Bosnia and Ukraine, the Office of International Affairs can provide accommodation in one of the student dormitories of the Studierendenwerk Stuttgart (owner of the student dormitories).
  
  Please note that it is extremely difficult to find apartments on the private housing market in Stuttgart. Therefore it is strongly recommended that you sign up for one of the student dormitories. If you do not intend to apply for student housing, please be sure to notify the International Office by e-mail (incoming@ia.uni-stuttgart.de).
  
  In order to register for a dorm room you must complete the online application on the website of the Studierendenwerk Stuttgart before the deadline indicated below. Make sure you select "Overseas" as programme in the section "Data about the study course".
  
  Deadlines:
  15 January for the moving-in dates of March and April.
  15 June for the moving-in dates of September and October.
  Please respect the deadline. Late applications will not be accepted.
  
  Please note that the Office of International Affairs does not have any influence on the allocation of dormitories. The Studierendenwerk allocates the dormitory rooms and is not in the position to consider any preferences.
