DAAD Centres Conference 2018 „Envisioning the Future: Zukunftsvisionen für Deutschland und Europa“

Horschig/DAAD

This year the scholarly networking Conference of the Centres for German and European Studies was hosted at the Hotel Sofitel Kurfürstendamm in Berlin.

From 6th to 8th of December 2018, senior and junior academics at currently and formerly DAAD-funded Centers for German and European Studies as well as researchers active in the respective field were discussing “Envisioning the Future for Germany and Europe: Zukunftsvisionen für Deutschland und Europa”.

At interdisciplinary panels scholars presented interesting papers which had been selected by this year's advisory board. Among other things, the agenda included highly topical subjects such as migration, populism and the (dis-)integration of Europe.

Two new items were introduced this year aimed at junior academics in particular: As part of the established poster presentation, the academic advisory board selected and awarded the three best posters. Furthermore, the conference was preceded by a one-day graduate workshop, at which selected doctoral projects were discussed.
