Programme: NRWege ins Studium. Integrating Refugees at Higher Education Institutions in North Rhine-Westphalia
In the last two years, North Rhine-Westphalia has welcomed the largest number of refugees among the federal states of Germany. There are many amongst them who want to study and have the skills and qualifications. The funding programme enables NRW universities to offer study guidance for refugees and German language courses in preparation for as well as during studies.
The DAAD does not accept applications to the programme “NRWege ins Studium”. If you are interested in studying at a university in North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW), you can find the contact data of the university representatives here, along with other useful information.
Integrating refugees into university life touches many different topics: counselling and support before or throughout the language courses or cooperation with stakeholders outside the university. The work of individual universities is portrayed here (only in German).
The universities of North Rhine-Westphalia have introduced a wide range of measures to help refugees begin or continue their studies in NRW. Since 2017, the programme “NRWege ins Studium” has been actively supporting 30 public and state-accredited universities.
