Anmerkung zum Studiengang

The Bachelor's program in International Engineering (INB) offers a unique, interdisciplinary foundation, covering all essential disciplines of natural and engineering sciences. The emphasis is on topics in • General Engineering • Electrical Engineering • Mechanical Engineering • Process Engineering You can expect classes with • a lot of practical activity • state-of-the-art laboratories • individual support and small teaching groups • interesting content and future-oriented projects with a lot of fun. Studying at TH Mannheim gives you • Strong cross-border career opportunities • Multicultural campus in one of Europe’s most innovative regions • Convenient access to international airports (Frankfurt, Stuttgart, Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden) – stay connected with your family The INB program is designed for both international students and German applicants with a strong intercultural interest. Female and male engineers with a broad background are members of one of the most popular professional groups in Germany. Salaries and future career opportunities could not be better currently. Our students will participate in a multilateral course of studies. This program gathers the fields of electrical, mechanical and process engineering. Engineers with this background will continue to be among the most sought-after professional groups in Germany and will receive excellent pay and future prospects. Course structure of BSc International Engineering /INB 1st & 2nd semester: Foundation studies: Focus is on the fundamentals of Maths and Physics. Introduction into the basics of Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Process Engineering. A laboratory course teaches practical skills in the fields of electrical engineering and chemistry. Medium of instruction is English. 3rd & 4th semester: Advanced studies: In the first part of the main study program, the engineering disciplines are deepened. The interdisciplinary nature of many modules becomes clear, e.g. technical thermodynamics as a core subject of process engineering and mechanical engineering, measurement and control technology for the diagnosis and control of machines and processes. Medium of instruction is English. At the end of the 4th semester, students are encouraged to choose one of the four specializations of the main course and to select a suitable institution for the following practical semester. 5th semester: Internship semester: This semester provides an insight into the reality of the professional world and trains self-organization and communication skills; outside the university in industry or at a research institution. Students have the option of choosing an institution based in Germany or working internationally. 6th & 7th semester: Choose of specialization: Students choose one of the four specializations. The aim of the General Engineering specialization is to acquire generalist skills for coordinating activities in industry and for the holistic optimization of complex technical systems. Modules are offered that have a generalist nature. Courses in the General Engineering specialization continue to be taught in English. The three specializations Process Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering deepen subject-specific knowledge and skills. The courses are generally held in German and are linked to modules from the main study program of the purely German-language Bachelor's degree programs of the participating faculties. This program can be studied completely in English. No knowledge of German is required at the start of the program. German Language tuition is an integral part of the program in the university´s own language center, free of charge. Your German language level will be at least B1 by the start of the placement semester in industry. You can choose to write the Bachelor thesis in English or German language. Application information The Appilcation portal opens mid-October for the summer semester. If you have any questions please contact: apply.inb@hs-mannheim.de. Due to the multitude of applications TH Mannheim receives each year, and as the number of students to be admitted is restricted, applicants should have a very good school-leaving certificate or university transcript. The admissions committee focuses on your grades in Maths and Physics. Housing application TH Mannheim highly recommends to apply for student accommodation with Studierendenwerk Mannheim already when applying for a study place. Online application for student accommodation can be done as early as 4 months before start of the summer semester. You can apply with Studierendenwerk Mannheim already before having received admission for INB. Visa Application The procedure for applying for a study visa for Germany may vary slightly from country to country. TH Mannheim strongly recommends checking with the German embassy or consulate in your country for up-to-date details relevant to your specific case while preparing your application with us.
