The Humboldt Master of Laws (LL.M.) provides a comprehensive understanding of German and European law, enriched with a global perspective. The programme combines a strong foundational curriculum with opportunities for specialised study, preparing graduates to navigate the complexities of legal systems in an interconnected world. The programme starts with a Core Curriculum in the winter semester that provides a strong foundation, introducing European and German law with an international perspective. Building on this, students can choose specialised tracks in Justice & Security, Law & Society, or Innovation & Transformation in the summer semster, gaining in-depth, research-based expertise to excel in academia or legal practice in today’s global legal landscape.

Professional degree (240 ECTS credits; Applicants holding a 180-ECTS bachelor's degree are also welcome to apply. The Master's degree obtained will be fully valid, but applicants should be aware that having fewer than 300 ECTS in total may limit access to certain follow-up qualifications [e.g., PhD admission, regulated professions and careers in public-sectors].), (applicable from degree) knowledge of foreign (non-German) law (equivalent to 120 ECTS credits), qualified practical professional work experience of at least 1 year (completed after obtaining the degree and before the application period), English skills B2
