| Study Visits to Germany for
the year 2013
The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) offers scholarships
for study or research visits of 1-3 months to professors at Palestinian
universities (Ph.D.-holders), who have plans for
a clearly defined study or research project in cooperation with
a German host institution or professional colleague. More than
one invitation within the space of three years is not possible,
i.e. after one study-visit there must be three years without study-visit
until you can reapply.
DAAD hopes that these scholarships will provide Palestinian academics
with an opportunity to do research in cooperation with a German
partner in the proper academic setting. At the same time, DAAD
strongly encourages you to use your study-visit to establish
actual research and academic relations with your host professor and host
institution (prepare joined research projects, make first steps
towards a university partnership). You can always extend
an invitation to Germanprofessors to
come and teach for some time (between one to four months) at your
university in Palestine. DAAD can provide your German colleagues
with scholarships for such a purpose.
(Additional funds for accompanying dependents are not available.
Also, applicants are in general not encouraged to travel with their
family).
Applications should be made on the blue forms and
must include all documents requested therein (application forms
may be downloaded from www.daad.de).
Please, present as clear a picture as possible of yourself and
of your academic qualifications. Precise details and reasons for
taking up your project should be provided. Finally, you have to
provide in writing all arrangements made with the inviting German
academic for the purpose of your study visit.
Requirements:
- Research or Study Project (2 to 3 pages) including bibliography.
- Invitation by one or more German professors and/or institutions
to implement the research project. Only original invitation
letters can be accepted (no photocopies, no e-mails!). These letters
are best sent by the German professor directly to
the DAAD Office in Jerusalem.
- C.V.
- List of publications.
- Travel Plan/Itinerary (via Tel Aviv, Amman or Egypt, provisional date
of travel).
- Provisional travel plan/itinerary inside Germany, in case you plan
to visit different universities (travel expenses are only covered
for those universities for which you have an official invitation).
- Add your e-mail address and/or fax number as well as your
telephone and mobile number, so that we can contact you if necessary.
All applications must be submitted in duplicate, i.e. two
separate packages containing complete applications - please keep one copy of your application for your own use.
Only complete applications can be processed .
All applications must be submitted to the DAAD Information Office
in East Jerusalem by November 8, 2012. Please, do keep
this deadline or better, submit your applications as early as possible.
Incomplete applications and applications submitted after the
deadline will be rejected.
No exceptions can be granted .
The DAAD head office in Germany will decide on the scholarships.
Results will be communicated to you as soon as possible, hopefully
by the end of March 2013.
