Master's Scholarships to Jordan: (“Third Country” Scholarships)
Candidates: Palestinian graduates holding a B.A./B. Sc. in science and engineering subjects
Application: no more than 6 years after the last degree earned
Requirements: Very good or excellent average B.A/B. Sc.(minimum 80 %). Only the very best and the most promising students, who plan an academic career, should apply. A recommendation by the head of department and by the university (faculty-building program) is needed. (TOEFL paper-based 500/ computer-based 173/ internet-based 61/ IELTS Test Band 5 or above required).
Duration: 2 years.
Application deadline: August 26, 2010

Master's Scholarships to Germany (Study Scholarships for Master’s Programs - for International Degree Programs in Germany)
Same as above, however, students apply to DAAD and at the same time to an International Degree Course in their field of interest at a university of their choice in Germany. All students applying on this track need very good English (TOEFL paper-based 550/ computer-based 213/ internet-based 79/ IELTS Test Band 6 or above required). You first have to pass the round of DAAD interviews. In addition you have to get an acceptance from one International Degree Course in Germany in order to get a scholarship.

Ph.D.
Scholarships (Research Grants for Doctoral Candidates and Young Academics and Scientists)
Candidates: Palestinians with B.A./B. Sc and M.A./M. Sc from any university, present in Palestine at the time of application and preferably teaching at one of the Palestinian universities.
Application: no more than 6 years after the last degree earned
Requirements: Formal acceptance by a German professor for Ph.D.-Studies.
Valid research project (3-5 pages, including bibliography) plus approval by a German advisor. At least two recommendations by academic teachers (preferably at master’s level).
Duration: Scholarships are awarded on a yearly basis. Upon successful completion of one year of studies the scholarship is renewed (normally up to 3 years).

Postgraduate Degree Courses for Professionals with Relevance to Developing Countries
Candidates: B.A./B. Sc. certificate holders currently employed as professionals in Palestine. For Ph.D. programs, you have to hold an M.A./M. Sc.
Maximum Age: 36 (31 for PhD-programs) at time of application. For detailed information and additional special regulations see the DAAD booklet on "Postgraduate Courses for Professionals with Relevance to Developing Countries” or the DAAD website).
Precondition: Minimum of 2 years professional experience after completion of B.Sc.
Requirements: Letter of recommendation by the employer as well as a confirmation that the applicant will be re-employed after the studies (leave of absence). International competition is very tough. For courses offered in English a high TOEFL score is a pre-condition (paper-based 550/ computer-based 213/ internet-based 79/ IELTS Test Band 6 or above) .
Fields of specialization: Agriculture, Administration and Planning, Health, Engineering, Math and Chemistry.
Only for courses offered in DAAD booklet: Postgraduate Courses for Professionals with Relevance to Developing Countries (you must check the internet for detailed and up-to-date information including deadlines for individual courses).
Application deadline: August 26, 2010 (do check the homepage of your chosen course because the university deadline may differ!).

Study Visits (Research Stays for University Academics and Scientists/ Re-invitation Program for former Scholarship Holders)
Candidates: Professors teaching at Palestinian Universities in East Jerusalem, West Bank and in the Gaza Strip.
Requirements: Research project (with bibliography), invitation by a German colleague.
Application deadline: November 4, 2010. Use blue application forms: "Research Stays and Study Visits for University Academics and Scientists/Re-invitation Program for Former Scholarships holders”.
Attention: DAAD cannot consider late or incomplete applications. TOEFL/IELTS result must be included in your application when required!!

All applications have to be submitted in triplicate (that means 3 separate packages including all of the required papers in proper order: 1 original set, 2 photocopied sets!) Do not staple the photocopied documents together and do not staple your photograph to the forms (use glue to attach your photograph in the place indicated on the form, any loose additional photographs must have your name, clearly written in English, on the back). Do not forget to sign your application form as well as your C.V and your study plan (letter of motivation)!
