- Postgraduate Degree Courses to Germany for the year 2011 (for Professionals with Relevance to Developing Countries)
For B.A./B. Sc. certificate holders currently employed as professionals in Palestine, with a minimum of 2 years professional experience after completion of B.Sc. For Ph.D. programs, you have to hold an M.A. / M. Sc. Maximum age 36 (31 for Ph.D.-programs) at time of application. The age limit is waived if you have earned your last degree during the past six years. All applicants should contact the program managers of their chosen course in Germany directly in order to find out about special requirements and additional information. Some programs require direct application to the university/course as well as an application to the DAAD.
Requirements:
- Filled out and signed application form "Application for Research Grants and Study Scholarships" (please tick “Study scholarship for a postgraduate course with relevance to developing countries”) - to be downloaded from the DAAD websitewww.daad.de/westbank_gaza . - Curriculum Vitae (C.V. – please, sign it)
- Certified copies in English (not photocopies!) of the Tawjihe-Certificate, of the Bachelor’s Degree and of the complete transcript
- Certificate for your professional experience with precise dates of employment
- Recommendation letters: a) 2 academic recommendations, b) letter of recommendation by your employer as well as a confirmation that the applicant will be re-employed after the studies (leave of absence). Only original letters in a sealed envelope are accepted.
- Explanation of your motives for applying to the respective course (you may apply for
one course only – it is your responsibility to find a suitable course).

9. For courses offered in English a high TOEFL score is a pre-condition (paper-based 550/computer -based 213/ internet-based 79/ IELTS Test Band 6 or above) - for courses taught in German the successful candidates get a scholarship for a 6 month language course in Germany.
All applications must be submitted in triplicate (that means 3 separate packages including all of the required papers in proper order: 1 original set, 2 photocopied sets)All letters of recommendation must be submitted in a sealed envelope – do ask for extra copies from the person writing the recommendation. Do not staple the photocopied documents together and do not staple your photograph to the forms (use glue to attach your photograph in the place indicated on the form, write your name clearly in English on the back of all additional loose photographs). Please, organize your papers according to our above checklist.
Applications that are not organized and not signed (i.e. application form as well as your C.V and your Study Plan, i.e. letter of motivation) cannot be accepted.
Application deadline: August 26, 2010 – again: do check the homepage of your chosen course because the university deadline may differ!
DAAD cannot consider late or incomplete applications!

There will be no interviews with applicants for this scholarship.
The decision on the award of scholarships will be made in Germany by the respective universities and by DAAD. The results will be available in January or February 2011.
As a rule application papers cannot be returned. However, if your application was not successful, please contact (best by e-mail) the DAAD office in Jerusalem to find out, if and how your papers can be returned to you. Application-papers sent to Germany cannot be returned under any circumstances.
The successful candidates will travel to Germany for a two-month (courses in English) or a six month (for courses in German) preliminary German language course in either August or April 2011.
Value of the scholarship: 715 Euros/month, all fees for the preparatory language course, tuition and fees, study & research subsidy, travel expenses to and from Germany, accident & health insurance
