    Master in Jordan Home

  • Master’s Scholarships to Jordanian Universities for the year 2012 (“Third Country” Scholarships)

Eligible: Palestinian Graduates - who have scored an accumulative average of at least very good (80% and above).

for female students only:
  • Engineering
  • Sciences
for male and female students:
  • Nursing
  • Basic Medical Sciences
  • Pharmacy

They should envisage an academic career at a Palestinian University and must be supported in this by their respective universities. Only candidates whose last degree was earned no more than six years ago can apply. All applicants who are already teaching at their respective university are strongly encouraged to apply. After having obtained their Master’s Degree in Jordan, alumni can apply for a Ph.D. TOEFL 61 (500) is required. This program is designed as a faculty-building program.

Requirements:

  1. Filled out, dated and signed (handwritten signature) application form "In-Country Scholarships/ Third-Country-Scholarships for Postgraduate Studies" with one attached photograph (use glue only, NOT staples!) - this form can be downloaded from the DAAD websitewww.daad.de/westbank_gaza ). If you have problems with the download, please, contact daad@netvision.net.il for assistance.
  2. Curriculum Vitae (C.V.) – complete with the date and signed (handwritten signature)
  3. Certified copies in English (not photocopies!) of the Tawjihe-Certificate, of the Bachelor’s Degree and of the complete transcript
  4. Recommendation letter by the Head of your Department plus additional recommendations (as detailed and specific as possible) by other academic teachers. Only original letters in a sealed envelope are accepted. New recommendation forms!
  5. Choice of one program at one of the Jordanian universities (make sure that your desired specialization is available as a Master’s course – thesis track - at the respective university) with the full and precise name of the program.
  6. Study Plan (letter of motivation for choosing the particular program - in your own words – please sign (handwrittten signature) and date it and include your full name)
  7. Photocopy of your passport
  8. TOEFL 61 (500) points/IELTS Band 5 or above

Please submit only one application package, including one original set of recommendation letters (in seadled envelopes). Please, organize your papers according to the above checklist.

Applications that are not organized and not signed by hand and that are without the date (i.e. application form as well as your C.V and your Study Plan/letter of motivation) will be considered incomplete.

Please make photocopies of all the items in your application package (exception: the recommendation letters, because the have to be submitted in a sealed envelope) and keep these photocopies with you. If you are invited for an interview you will be asked to submit/bring extra copies of your application package with you.  

Do not staple the photocopied documents together and do not staple your photograph to the forms (use glue to attach your photograph in the place indicated on the form)

à Through your respective university – well in time to reach the DAAD IC in East Jerusalem by the respective deadline.

Only the best applicants, provided they have fulfilled all requirements and have submitted a complete application, can be invited to an interview (to be held in English) by a bi-national Palestinian-German Committee. (It is your responsibility to check when your personal interview is scheduled and to confirm it with the DAAD IC in Jerusalem).

Results of these interviews in the form of a preliminary shortlist will be made available as soon as possible after completion of all interviews in Palestine.

 

If your name appears on the shortlist of applications submitted to the DAAD Head Office in Bonn, please, prepare all the documents required for registration at the Jordanian universities:

  • Certified copy of birth certificate (in Arabic).
  • Certified copies of Tawjihe and Bachelor’s-Degree as well as of complete transcript (in Arabic)
  • C.V. in Arabic
  • Photocopy of your passport
  • 6 recent passport-photos 
  • TOEFL 61 (500) / IELTS Band 5

All candidates who are on our shortlist (main list and reserve list) should submit these documents to the DAAD IC in East Jerusalem the latest by April 15, 2012.

The decision on the award of scholarships will be made by a German academic committee at the DAAD Head Office in Bonn in February 2012. These final results will be made available by the end of March 2012.

The successful candidates will be registered at Jordanian Universities through DAAD in May/June 2012.  

Value of the scholarship: 400 JD per month, lump sum towards travel and luggage expenses, yearly study & research allowance, lump sum towards printing costs of Master’s thesis. All fees at your respective Jordanian university are covered by DAAD in full.

The academic year in Jordan usually starts by the end of September. It is your responsibility to check the precise dates, also for registering for courses etc., with your chosen university in Jordan.

 

As a rule application papers cannot be returned. However, if your application was not successful, please contact (best by e-mail) the DAAD office in Jerusalem to find out, if and how your papers can be returned to you. Application-papers sent to Germany cannot be returned under any circumstances.
