Important information
- Applications from the fields of architecture, fine arts, music as well as drama, direction, dance and choreography, have to be received by DAAD in Bonn, Dept. 324, latest on 15 November each year (date of receipt stamp).
- Applications for all other programmes have to be submitted to the German Embassy till 15 November each year.
- Scholarships will exclusively be granted for research grants, research stays, advanced training programmes at governmental (and governmentally recognized) private universities as well as research institutions in Germany. Research in archives or museums not linked up with the university cannot be supported.
- A single copy of any certificate or translation is quite sufficient for the application. Certified or authenticated copies of certificates and translations only need to be sent to the DAAD after you have received the Scholarship Award Letter.
- For some programmes one or two letters of recommendation are necessary. They should, as far as possible, been written by postdoctoral university teachers who hold a habilitation, at least they must hold a doctorate. The form can be found at the following address: www.daad.de/imperia/md/content/de/foerderung/recommendation.pdf.
- Language tests: Date for language tests can be given by the resential DAAD lektors.
- The preselection by DAAD will take place in Belgrad, date will be given later. Applicants for a Research Grant lasting more than 7 months or for a Study Scholarship will be invited via E-Mail for an interview 10 days in advance. It is obligatory to keep this interview. Grants for all other programmes will be decided on the basis of the submitted documents. Information about the result of the selection will be given in April 2011 at the earliest.
Research Grants for Doctoral Candidates and Young Academics and Scientists
- Flat-rate travel allowance: 275.- euros
- Applicants for Research Grants should, as a rule, be working on a doctorate.
- Doctoral students must document their achievements, both from their graduate studies and their doctoral studies (copy of the course record books or a print-out from the database).
- Applicants intending to do a doctorate in Germany within the scope of a structured doctoral programme must include information on the chosen degree programme (length, profile, e.g. print-out of the website) when submitting the application and a confirmation of the university that the formal conditions for admissions can be fulfilled.
- Please note that (parallel to applying for a scholarship) you must apply personally to the chosen host university for Admission to Studies. So, please make sure that you observe the application deadlines for the chosen degree programmes.
- Applications must include a self compiled abstract of the intended research that has been agreed with the German supervisor, and must include a schedule of work and time for the planned stay.
- The start date for Research Grants of up to six months is: from May at the earliest; the end date for Research Grants is: at the latest in January of the following year.
- As a rule, the start date for Research Grants of six months and more is 1 October. If a two-month or four-month preliminary language course is awarded, the start date is changed accordingly.
- Applicants should be able to prove that they have good German language skills, e.g. through language certificate(s). In the case of natural sciences and engineering, and if English is spoken at the host institution, certified good English language skills can also be accepted. A German language certificate must be submitted in all cases. Free-of-charge language tests can be taken with DAAD Lektors.
- Research grants for doctoral candidates according to the Sandwich Programme are not available.

Re-invitation Programme for Former Scholarship Holders
- No travel expenses paid
- You may also apply direct to DAAD in Bonn. Application documents have to be submitted till 15 January 2011 (date as per postmark).
- Duration: 1 to 3 months between May 2011 and January 1012.

Study Scholarships for Graduates of All Disciplines
- Flat-rate travel allowance: 275.- euros
- If general tuition fees are charged at the host university, the fees will either be waived for DAAD scholarship holders or the fees will be reimbursed by the DAAD up to a maximum of 500 euros per semester.
- As a rule, the start date for Study Scholarships is 1 October. If a two-month or four-month preliminary language course is awarded, the start date is changed accordingly.
- Applicants should be able to prove that they have sufficient language skills to meet the formal conditions for admission towards the desired course of studies. Please contact the university in question.
- A German language certificate must be submitted in all cases, even when applying for English-instructed programmes. Free of charge language certificates can be issued by one of the local DAAD lektors. But these don’t replace the necessary language certificate for your studies!
- Information on study opportunities offered by German universities can be found at: www.hochschulkompass.de
- Information on the chosen degree programme (length, profile, e.g. print-out of the website) must be submitted together with the application.
- In the application form please list at least up to three degree programmes in their priority for you and enclose information about the chosen programmes. Furthermore please complete and sign the form Profile study programme for each study programme.
- Please note that (parallel to applying for the scholarship) you must apply personally for the chosen degree programmes to the host universities for Admission to Studies. Please make sure that you observe the application deadlines for the chosen degree programmes.

- Flat-rate travel allowance: 275.- euros
- This programme is also meant for students within a Master's programme respectively for those who, within the frame of their professional specialisation (teacher), have to write a final work.

- Flat-rate travel allowance: 275.- euros
- If general tuition fees are charged at the host university, the fees will either be waived for DAAD scholarship holders or the fees will be reimbursed by the DAAD up to a maximum of 500 euros per semester.
- At the time of application, applicants should be able to prove that they have good German language skills, e.g. through language certificate(s). In English-instructed degree programmes, applicants must prove that they at least have the English language skills required for admission to the degree programme in question. A German language certificate must be submitted in all cases. Free-of-charge language tests can be taken with DAAD Lektors.
- You may as well apply for a Master's Programme of two years for subjects of fine art.
