Research Grants for Doctoral Candidates and Young Academics and Scientists
  • Application deadline for research grants to run for more than six months:
    30 September each year for the period as of April of the following year
  • Application deadlines for research grants to run for up to six months:
    30 September each year for the period as of February of the following year.
    31 March each year for the period as of August of the same year.
  • Applicants from Australia for research grants are generally expected to be able to prove that they have a basic knowledge of German at the time of application
  • Research work in Germany with the aim to gain a doctor’s degree cannot be supported.


Research stays for University Academics and Scientists
  • Application deadlines:
    30 September each year for a period as of February of the following year.
    31 March each year for a period as of August of the same year.

  • Application deadline: 30 September each year for a period as of April of the following year.
  • The DAAD will pay an appropriate flat-rate travel allowance.
