Studying in Germany -
Virtual advisor "Dany" explains how
it's done
DAAD Press Release No. 26/2004, 6 July 2004
Where can I study computer science? Can
I get a grant or scholarship? Which university
should I choose? The DAAD Info-Center receives
countless e-mail inquires like this from around
the world everyday. So there's hardly time to
answer the more specific questions. But this is
going to change now, because "Dany",
the virtual advisor on the DAAD website, is ready
to start answering these more general questions
on studying in Germany. Dany speaks English. He
answers questions from students, academics, scientists
and researchers who wish to begin or continue
their academic career in Germany. Dany will also
tell visitors about websites which can provide
further help; and he will tell them about life
in Germany.
Dany has undergone intensive training over the
past few months and has now moved to the English
startpage. This is where he meets his guests with
a " Hello and welcome! My name is Dany, your
virtual advisor at the DAAD Website. You can ask
me any question about studying in Germany".
This new service is part of the DAAD's activities
carried out under the Joint Initiative on "International
marketing to promote study, research and training
in Germany". Besides numerous other activities
and initiatives, the easily accessible and clearly-explained
information provides foreign students, academics,
scientists and researchers with an important decision-making
basis for a stay in Germany. Dany offers easy
and friendly access to the extensive range of
information and services offered by the DAAD as
well as to the Joint Initiative's six-language
information portal www.campus-germany.de.
This is why Dany is pleased to respond to the
question "Why should I study in Germany?"
by answering: "I believe that studying in
Germany has many advantages. The well-established
university tradition, the variety of disciplines
and interdisciplines, and the worldwide reputation
of Germany's universities, science, research and
technology. You will enjoy an international experience
and earn an internationally-recognised German
degree, such as a Bachelor's, Master's or PhD.
This will certainly benefit your future career."
