Hongkong ist ein hochentwickelter internationaler Studienstandort mit englischsprachigem Studienprogramm. Fünf der acht staatlichen Universitäten befinden sich weltweit auf den vordersten Rankingplätzen. In Hongkong besteht eine lange Tradition des „Study abroad“. Als weltweit führendes Finanzzentrum bildet Hongkong den idealen Hintergrund für eine hochmotivierte und mobile Studentengemeinschaft. Hongkongs Anziehungskraft besteht aber auch in seiner besonderen Position als Tor zu China. Alle Hongkonger Universitäten haben enge Verbindungen zum chinesischen Festland.
Hong Kong hat in den letzten Jahren deutliche und erfolgreiche Anstrengungen unternommen, das internationale Profil der Hochschulen und des Hochschulstandortes zu schärfen. In zunehmenden Maße kommen sehr gut ausgebildete chinesische Studenten und Wissenschaftler nach Hong Kong, um hier ihre Master bzw. ihre PhD Studien fortzusetzen, zu forschen oder zu lehren. Auch Studenten und Wissenschaftler aus Taiwan, Japan, Korea und Südostasien sowie zunehmend auch aus Europa und Amerika ziehen Hong Kong bei ihrer Postgraduierten-Studienwahl in Betracht.
The annual EHEF is a golden opportunity in which local and German universities come into direct contact. Immediately after the fair, we organize a visit to a selected local university for the German delegation. Many existing university cooperation indeed grow out of this visit.

Higher Education Institutions in Germany
The DAAD funds the development and introduction of high-quality, internationally competitive study and research programmes for qualified foreign students, (post)graduates, academics and researchers who, for their part, contribute to the outstanding teaching and research offered in Germany. The DAAD also encourages the creation of hospitable frameworks for foreigners (status and work permit legislation, guidance-counselling, and much more) and helps higher education institutions position themselves in the international "education market" by carrying out information and advertising campaigns. Germany can only maintain and develop the quality of its academic, science and research institutions by working together with the best foreign students, (post)graduates, academics and researchers.
Since the mid-1990s and the conception of two "Action Programmes", the DAAD has developed a number of institutional structure-building programmes which aim to make German higher education, science and research more attractive to the international students and academics. These programmes serve to improve the content of study and research offerings, to make "customer-oriented" improvements to the legislative frameworks for foreign guests and, finally, to professionalise the information and marketing activities of Germany's higher education institutions.
