DIES Partnerships facilitate the establishment of initial and continuing training programmes on topics of higher education management or offer corresponding in-service training programmes and opportunities for scientific exchange between lecturers and researchers. Partnerships aim to enable well-educated leaders to use the scarce resources more efficiently and to create incentives for quality improvements.
In addition, the partnerships support cooperation between universities and partners from non-university research institutions as a means of enhancing the relevance of the degree programmes.
Active cooperation agreements between universities represent a prerequisite for the funding of DIES partnerships. Besides joint applications by a German and a foreign university, partnership projects involving two or more universities – preferably in different partner countries – are also particularly welcome.
This Development Programme is funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). Target groups are institutions of higher education in developing countries. Please consult the OECD-DAC List for countries that are eligible.
The next announcement for DIES Partnerships will be on 2nd April 2012, the deadline for applications is expected to be June, 30th 2012 with earliest funding beginning in 2013.
