DIES stands for "Dialogue on Innovative Higher Education Strategies". DIES supports higher education institutions in developing countries to develop strategies, which improve the university management as well as the quality and relevance of study programmes. The DIES Programme is jointly conducted by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and the German Rectors' Conference (HRK).
DIES Dialogue supports high-ranking conferences and seminars for the development of higher education institutions. The DAAD-DIES Department organises praxis-oriented transnational DIES Training Courses pertaining to higher education management issues, such as the "International Deans Course". DIES Partnerships supports South-South-North multiple-year higher education projects. With the DIES Projects extending over several years, we support the regional higher education organisations in their development and implementation of a quality assurance system. Moreover, within this framework, we direct our attention in particular to the incorporation of the working world and international evaluators.
A first general overview on the support of higher education management in developing countries which DIES provides, offers our brochure.
You can find out about our current activities in the DIES News. Information about our key issues is provided in the DIES Topics. The various approaches of how higher education management is supported by the DAAD are described under the DIES Programmes. In the section DIES Regions, you will find information that will answer the question why we work transnationally, and in which locations DIES is active. The DIES Team provides an overview page of their contact persons at the DIES department.
