This is where you can find out which educational certificates obtained outside Germany are required for admission to higher education in Germany.
Please select your country of origin, if applicable your certificate and answer some additional country-specific questions in the following few steps. The result will let you know what kind of possibilities you can generally expect for admission in Germany.
Please also note our general information on Higher Education Entrance Requirements for International Applicants.
Your individual qualification for admission can only be determined reliably when you actually apply for higher education in Germany. Please also take into consideration that admission to German-language couses normally requires very good knowledge of German. There are however also many English-language courses for which knowledge of German is not an essential requirement. Information about the specific requirements for particular courses is available from the institutions of higher education or from the course database.
Please also enquire at the university of your choice about further criteria for admission.
This database has been developed in cooperation with uni-assist e.V. and is based upon the guidlines of the German Central Office for Foreign Education (Zentralstelle für ausländisches Bildungswesen, ZaB). The ZaB evaluates in its database „anabin“ foreign educational qualifications and certificates.
Only the information in the database anabin is binding.
