Programme Description
The Künstlerhaus Lukas in Ahrenshoop sees itself as a place for artistic work and for international meeting and encounter. The programme also aims to facilitate interesting forms of collaboration between the individual art forms. The programme's international context focuses on the Baltic littoral states.

Once every two years, the Künstlerhaus Lukas awards 135 scholarships for working stays that generally last one month. For the years 2013 and 2014 there will be about 120 scholarship holders. Living and work rooms are available for the scholarship holders, who also receive financial support amounting to between 500 and 1000 euros.
Furthermore, the Künstlerhaus Lukas supports the realisation of selected projects and presents these to the public in cooperation with national and international partner institutions.

Professional artists from the disciplines: Fine Arts, Literature, Dance and Music.

Number of Scholarships
There will be about 120 scholarships for the years 2013 and 2014.

Term

  • One-month working scholarships at the Künstlerhaus Lukas
  • One-month working scholarships especially for young artists from Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania , Sweden and Lithuania at the Künstlerhaus Lukas and in Sweden (with integrated Exhibition Options and Catalogue Funding)
  • One-month exchange scholarships – including a funding programme for artists whose main place of residence lies in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania
  • Two-month project scholarships
  • One-week interdisciplinary project work for up to 8 participants

Scholarship Items
Seven flats are available rent free – of which 4 consist of a living room (ca. 12 m²) and a studio room (ca. 22 m²) plus 3 living/work rooms (12, 13 and 23 m²) and a guest room. The flats are fully equipped. Two washing machines are available in the laundry room, which scholarship holders can use. Broadband internet access is available free of charge.
The amount awarded for each scholarship is set once a year in accordance with the budgetary situation and currently amounts to at least 500 Euros and at most 1000 Euros plus free-of-charge use of the studio or the workshop and living room. Travel, material or transport grants cannot be paid.
Case by case decisions will be made on the realisation and funding of projects and events organised by the scholarship holders as well as on the award travel grants when participating in exhibitions.
For project scholarships with the regional partner institutions, applications can be submitted for financial resources amounting up to 1500 Euros in total per project to cover the costs of fees, material and travel expenses as well as printing costs. The Jury decides on the amount of these grants in agreement with the Management and the Board.

Application Requirements
The scholarship at the Künstlerhaus Lukas and at the exchange partners is a Residence Scholarship. Scholarship holders are obliged to take up residence. In the case of guests from non-EU countries, these must prove that they have health insurance cover. German or English language skills are welcomed.
