The DAADblog started off in September 2008. Meanwhile a total of 19 students from all over the world have blogged about their time in Germany - in German or English. Right now there are three students blogging for the DAAD: Ron from Israel and Alexander from Costa Rica, both pursuing their doctorate in Berlin, and Lubos from Slovakia, who studies economics in Cologne.
The DAAD is always searching for more foreign students, who would like to share their experience in Germany with others by writing about them. In case you are interested to join our blog, get in touch with us and send us an email.
Hi, I’m Alexander Araya, born in 1980 and a Costa Rican sociologist. I am an observer. I look at things, people, moments and behaviors. Passionate about photography since I was child, I have always been interested on the visual experiences of life .I was born in San José. Formed as a sociologist, I have been teaching about communication and mass media at the Universidad de Costa Rica. My reason to be in Germany is to study a PhD in Sociology at the Lateinamerika Institut at the Freie Universität Berlin.
My research focuses on the relation of youth cultures, social stigma and public spaces. Graffiti, parkour, capoeira, skateboarding and all contemporary juvenile collectives help to keep cities alive. At least, that is my point of view.

Astronomy of Restaurants

The mentioned restaurant is Fischers Fritz which remains the only current Berlin establishment to hold the accolade of two Michelin [...]
My name is Lubos Cechvala. I'm from Slovakia, where I attended a German school and received my German Language Diploma. Thanks to the DAAD, from which I received a scholarship, I will start to study economics at the university of Cologne from winter semester 2010/11 onwards.
In this blog I want to tell about the experiences you usually make when you're new at a German university. I hope to help all those who also would like to study in Germany and want to get themselves an idea of what this is like.

World Business Dialog
