Exams & Tests

If you would like to learn German, you can test your skills on different levels. Whether you are a beginner or an expert, there are various organsations, which support German learners.

Test DaF & DSH

Ausländische Deutschlerner, Bild: g.a.s.t/TestDaFYou need profund knowledge of the German language, if you would like to study at a German university. That's why foreign applicants have to take a language test before they get admitted. The most important two are called TestDaF und DSH. 


Self-assessment tests

Test zur Selbsteinstufung, Bild: DAAD/LichtenscheidtIn order to find the right German course for yourself, you should be able to assess how good your German is already. These self-assessment tests might be of some help to you.


German reference levels

Ausländische Studierende, Bild: g.a.s.t./DUOThe Common European Framework of Reference differentiates German learners into six levels from beginners to experts. It also defines the content and the equivalent language exams for each level.
