German Language and Literary Studies
Intensive language instruction (20 hours per week/mornings): students will analyse various German literature texts (see below) and work on specific aspects of the German language (depending on their needs and interests); class discussion, discussion with writers and experts as well as reviews of literary texts will help to improve communication and writing skills.
Literary excursions and projects (approx. 12 hours per week, partly voluntary/afternoons): German literature will be "experienced" during walking tours through specific parts of the city and visits to places that are relevant to German literature and authors such as Kurt Tucholsky, Alfred Döblin, Bettina von Arnim, Jurek Becker, Walter Benjamin, Theodor Fontane, Günter Kunert, Else Lasker-Schüler, Erich Kästner, Rahel Varnhagen, Christa Wolf, Sven Regener, Heiner Müller and Gerhart Hauptmann.

Guided literature tours and individual literature ventures, visits to literary exhibitions, play readings and other places of literary interest
Beyond the literary focus: welcome dinner, sightseeing bus tour, visit to the house of parliament, discussions with "Zeitzeugen" (witnesses to the Third Reich and East Germany), excursions to a former concentration camp and to the Stasi prison, farewell party on a boat.
Another excursion and visits to concerts and theatres will be supported up to 50%!
