Hanna Muegge

My name is Hanna Muegge and I attend Bradley University in Peoria, IL (USA) studying biology and German. I’m a passionate athlete playing Division 1 basketball, embrace the ocean and the cultures influencing the coastal communities, and love taking pictures of all the things I’ve experienced in life. Memories will last a lifetime. I’m an avid traveler and dream of seeing as much of the world as possible—of course, not without my camera!

Nature has always been part of my life, especially since I’ve lived in many beautiful places such as Tübingen (Germany), Boulder (Colorado, USA), Monterey & Carmel (California, USA) and Hopkins (Minnesota, USA). Early on in life my parents bestowed in me the ambition to care for our environment and to live a happy, healthy lifestyle. That’s who I am and what I do. As a kid I would spend hours climbing through the woods with my sisters, chasing our dreams of becoming ambitious explorers. I’m very excited to be spending this summer at the Pinniped Research Center at the University of Rostock in Germany, as a RISE intern working on research projects on the orientation mechanisms in harbor seals. Not only will this give me an opportunity to see what it is like to work directly with harbor seals, but it will also give me a chance to learn more about life at the Baltic Sea.
