Ram Shankar

I am Ram Shankar, Velur Selvamani from Chennai, India. I hold a Masters in Biotechnology from Anna University, Chennai. I am 24 years old and I am very fortunate to have got my DAAD scholarship to pursue my doctorate studies here in Germany.

I am a friendly and easy-going person and I love helping people and sharing ideas with them. I am a keen listener as well as an enthusiastic speaker and I do not miss any chance to actively take part in debates among groups of friends in wide-ranging topics. I like to learn more from my interactions with people. Nevertheless, I believe a man matures and gains more knowledge in every aspect of life, more from his own life experiences than anything else. That is why I want to share my experiences in Germany with other aspiring students so that it would certainly benefit them in someway in the future. In today’s world, right information at the right time is everything.

Nature and history interest me the most. I am an avid nature lover and would always love to take a peaceful stroll among lush natural surroundings. Reading up on historic stories, long forgotten ancient civilizations, people, culture, traditional cutoms, religion, historic battles and the like are another major theme that gets me hooked on instantly.

I first saw Germany through Frankfurt am Main Flughafen. To say I was overwhelmed would be an understatement! I felt like the whole of Frankfurt city was contained within the airport! It was so huge and so busy. Just imagining the kind of work involved in managing such a huge magnitude of critical parameters – different people from different backgrounds, different languages, so many so many levels, flights from so many countries, departures, arrivals, time schedules, connecting flights – simply mind blogging! But everything keeps going smoothly. And I had had my first taste of German efficiency!
