The workshop series International Dialogue on Education Berlin is a joint initiative of the British Council Germany, the German Academic Exchange Service, the German-American Fulbright Commission, the Australian Group of Eight and the Canadian Bureau for International Education in Berlin.

 

Through the contributions of international participants the series aims to enrich the debate on science, research and higher education policy in Germany, to place German perspectives in a global context and to learn from positive examples from other countries.

Michael Crommelin

Michael Crommelin is the Zelman Cowen Professor of Law at the University of Melbourne, and served as Dean of the Faculty from 1989 to 2002 and (after a year as visiting professor at Georgetown University) from 2003 to 2007.

 

He was born and raised in Brisbane and graduated from the University of Queensland as Bachelor of Arts in 1967 and as Bachelor of Laws with first class honours in 1971.

 

He continued his education in Canada, gaining an LLM and PhD from the University of British Columbia. Michael has held visiting appointments at a number of universities, including the University of Oslo, the University of British Columbia, the University of Calgary, and Georgetown University. In addition, Michael has served as President of AMPLA (the Australian Mineral and Petroleum Law Association) and as a member of the Council of the Section on Energy and Resources Law of the International Bar Association.

 

Professor Crommelin has researched and published extensively in his primary areas of academic expertise, which include comparative law, constitutional law, energy law and native title law.
